The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology(KPRIET), Coimbatore organized an Inter College Technical Symposium "STEPNBOOM'23" for Diploma Students on March 24th, 2023. Dr. N. Yuvaraj, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, KPRIET delivered the special address to the students and august gathering. He gave a brief introduction about the department and the faculty expertise and the student's professional elective tracks. He also interacts with the students about the department verticals and their group mapping with various technologies. The technical symposium consists of four different events namely, project presentation, technical connections, Technical treasure hunt and gaming. Ms. Jeevitha and Ms. Preethi Assistant professor department of CSE engaged in the technical connection event with good planning and the students actively participated in the event. A technical quiz is a popular event in various technical symposiums, including those held at polytechnics. The event typically involves a quiz competition that tests the technical knowledge and skills of participants in various areas of engineering, technology, and science. To participate in the technical quiz, teams of students are usually formed, and each team typically consists of three to four members. The teams may be from the same polytechnic or from different polytechnics, depending on the rules of the event. The teams may also be categorized according to their level of study, such as a diploma or degree level. Overall, the technical quiz is an exciting and challenging event that provides participants with an opportunity to showcase their technical knowledge and skills, as well as to learn from and interact with their peers from different polytechnics.Dr. Nisha Soms, Associate Professor and Mr. Kathiresan Assistant Professor(Sl. G), Department of CSE planned the Project presentation event with the jury member of Ms. N. Gomathi, AP/CSE, Jai Sriram Engineering college, Tiruppur. The project presentation event for the students can be an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their technical skills and knowledge. the event includes a series of presentations where the students presented their project ideas to the panel of judges and receive feedback on their ideas. the event was conducted with proper rules and regulations to ensure fairness and transparency. the rules were communicated to the participants well in advance and should cover topics such as organization and representation of the content, originality and creativity, collaboration, explanation of the topic and questions & answers. Mr. Premkumar, Assistant Professor(Sl. G), Department of CSE conducted the technical treasure hunt event with active participants. This event was part of one of the various technical events. These events are organized with the objective to provide a platform for the students to showcase their talent with a competitive spirit. ‘TREASURE HUNT’ is a technical competition where the students will participate as an individual. The competition consisted of two rounds viz. CODING and DEBUGGING ROUND. The coding round was the online coding platform where the participants were given 2 questions to be solved in 30 minutes' time. A total of 8 students were selected from this round who would further compete in the debugging round where they were given 2 questions to be debugged. The winners were encouraged with certificates and prizes. The participants were also given a certificate as a token of encouragement. Dr. Jenifa, Assistant Professor(Sl. G), and Ms. Janani, Assistant Professor Department of CSE organized the gaming event for the polytechnic students. The event was held on the institute's premises and was aimed at providing an engaging and entertaining platform for students to showcase their skills and learn new technologies. The event featured a variety of game events that kept the participants engaged and entertained throughout the day. The participants were divided into teams and competed against each other in a range of games that tested their mental agility, hand-eye coordination, and teamwork. The highlight of the event was the VR Oculus Quest 2 exhibit, where the participants got a chance to experience the latest virtual reality technology. The Oculus Quest 2 is a state-of-the-art VR headset that offers an immersive and interactive experience. The participants were excited to try out the VR headset and were amazed by the realistic and lifelike experience. The event was a huge success, and the department received positive feedback from both the participants and the faculty members. The event provided an excellent platform for the students to showcase their skills, learn new technologies, and bond with their peers. The department hopes to organize more such events in the future and continue to provide students with exciting and engaging opportunities to learn and grow.The feedback was collected through google forms from the participants after the events to improve the quality of future events. this will also help the coordinators to understand the areas where the participants need more guidance. Mr. Kandasamy, Assistant Professor(Sr. G) and Mr. Naveenkumar M, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE organized the Inter College Technical Symposium "STEPNBOOM'23" for Diploma Students on March 24th, 2023 grant success.
