The event enabled students to understand the practical challenges involved in managing human resources in a growing organisation. Participants developed skills in recruitment planning, job analysis, cost estimation, HR analytics, and employee retention strategies. They also improved their ability to identify workplace issues, resolve conflicts, and make informed HR decisions under time constraints. The role-play enhanced their communication, negotiation, active listening, and emotional intelligence skills. Overall, the activity strengthened students’ confidence in applying HR concepts to real-world business situations and prepared them to handle contemporary human resource management challenges effectively.
The Startup Scaling & Crisis HR Assessment was organised as a practical learning activity to develop students’ HR problem-solving and decision-making skills. The session consisted of three rounds. In the first round, students prepared job descriptions and designed recruitment funnels for a growing technology startup. In the second round, they analysed a simulated HR dashboard indicating a 28% increase in voluntary attrition in the customer support department and suggested immediate corrective measures. In the third round, students participated in an employee relations role-play, addressing conflicts related to company policies on diversity, equity, inclusion, and hybrid work. Faculty evaluated the participants based on their analytical abilities, communication skills, teamwork, policy awareness, and emotional intelligence. The activity encouraged active participation, collaborative learning, and the practical application of HR management concepts.
