The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in association with the KPRIET SDG Club, organized "Hepatitis-Free Future: Screening & Awareness" on 28 July 2026 to commemorate World Hepatitis Day. The programme was conducted at the KPR Medical Centre, Chanakya Block, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
The event was supported by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Midtown and Dr. M. Ganesan, Gastroenterologist, SG Gastrocare, Coimbatore, who extended their expertise in creating awareness about Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. The programme emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, vaccination, safe healthcare practices, and lifestyle measures to prevent hepatitis-related complications.
A free screening camp was organized for students and staff, enabling participants to assess their health status and seek appropriate medical guidance when necessary. The awareness session addressed common misconceptions about hepatitis and highlighted the significance of timely screening and preventive healthcare.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the KPRIET community and successfully achieved its objective of promoting health awareness, encouraging early detection, and supporting the global vision of eliminating hepatitis through education and preventive action. The event also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 3): Good Health and Well-being, reaffirming KPRIET's commitment to community health and social responsibility.
Outcome:
Created awareness among students and staff on the causes, symptoms, modes of transmission, prevention, vaccination, and early diagnosis of hepatitis.
Encouraged participants to undergo voluntary health screening, facilitating early detection and timely medical consultation where required.
Strengthened collaboration between KPRIET, the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Midtown, and healthcare professionals to promote preventive healthcare initiatives.
Reinforced the institution's commitment to SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being by fostering a culture of health consciousness and preventive care on campus.
