The Department of Chemical Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, successfully conducted a Short-Term Training Programme on “AI in Engineering Education and Simulation” in four sessions. The programme was organized over two days, with the first two sessions conducted on 7 May 2026 and the remaining two sessions on 14 May 2026.
During the programme, the resource person, Dr. S. Balasubramanian, Professor and Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, provided comprehensive training on the effective use of Artificial Intelligence tools in engineering education. The sessions focused on prompt engineering and demonstrated how AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude AI, and Perplexity can be utilized for academic activities including syllabus creation, CO–PO mapping, preparation of lecture notes, and development of educational videos.
The resource person also introduced various AI-powered educational applications such as Chalkie, Eduaide, and Edpuzzle, highlighting their applications in assessment, research, teaching–learning processes, and academic administration. Participants gained practical exposure to these tools and learned strategies for integrating AI technologies into their teaching practices to enhance productivity and student engagement.
The programme was highly interactive and well received by the participants. Faculty members expressed appreciation for the hands-on demonstrations and practical insights provided during the sessions. The training enhanced participants’ awareness of emerging AI technologies and equipped them with valuable skills to effectively incorporate AI tools into engineering education and institutional activities.
