Summary

The IEEE KPRIET Power and Energy Society Student Branch Chapter successfully organized a Guest Lecture titled β€œDesigning the Grid of Tomorrow: Bridging Renewable Integration with Industry Skills” as part of TechVista’26. The session was conducted with the objective of providing students with valuable insights into modern power system design and the integration of renewable energy sources into existing electrical grids.

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Rini Ann Jerin, Principal Engineer at Power Projects India, who shared her extensive industry experience and practical knowledge on emerging trends in power systems. She elaborated on the challenges associated with renewable energy integration, such as grid stability, load variability, and power quality issues, and explained the role of advanced technologies in addressing these challenges. The resource person also highlighted the importance of industry-relevant technical skills, including power system analysis, protection schemes, smart grid technologies, and renewable energy system design.

A total of 54 students actively participated and benefitted from the session. The lecture provided an excellent platform for students to understand real-time engineering practices and gain exposure to the expectations of the modern power and energy industry. Additionally, the resource person explored career opportunities in electrical core sectors, including power generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy companies, electrical design firms, and government utilities. She also guided students on skill development areas such as software tools, field knowledge, and professional certifications that enhance employability in the electrical engineering domain.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where students clarified their doubts and gained valuable career guidance from the expert.
