As part of the U21GEX07 Vertical Transportation Systems course designed by KONE Elevators, Chennai, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology organized an expert talk on “Electrification and Signalization in Elevators.” The session was delivered by Mr. S. Dinesh, Deputy General Manager – Electrification, KONE Elevators India Private Limited, Chennai, who shared his extensive industrial expertise in elevator electrical systems and control technologies.

During the session, Mr. Dinesh provided in-depth knowledge about the electrification architecture of elevators, covering essential components such as power supply systems, drive mechanisms, motors, controllers, wiring structures, and energy-efficient electrical solutions. He also explained the significance of signalization systems, including call buttons, floor indicators, communication networks, sensors, control logic, and safety circuits that ensure reliable and safe elevator operations.

The expert emphasized how electrical and signalization systems are integrated with mechanical structures to deliver seamless vertical mobility. He also introduced students to modern advancements such as smart elevator controls, automated diagnostics, IoT integration, and intelligent traffic management systems used in contemporary elevator technology.
