The inauguration of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) was held on September 19, 2024, at the KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology. The event, which took place between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, marked the beginning of a new chapter for the students and faculty involved in industrial applications research and practice. Mr. K. Dinesh Kumar, Managing Director of RD Automation, Coimbatore, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. His presence inspired the attendees with insights into the latest industrial automation trends and the role students can play in the industry.
Dr. M. Makeshkumar and Dr. S. Gokulkumar served as the event convenors, guiding the overall program and offering their expertise in industrial applications.
Mr. A. Suthinthira was the coordinator and student chair for the event, ensuring smooth operations and bridging the communication between students and faculty.
The event began with a formal welcome speech from him, introducing the IEEE IAS and its objectives.
Following the introduction, Mr. K. Dinesh Kumar delivered the keynote address. He emphasized the significance of industry-academia collaboration, the importance of research, and practical applications of engineering knowledge in solving real-world industrial problems. After that, Mr. A. Suthinthira provided a thorough introduction to the newly elected office bearers of the IEEE IAS KPRIET Student chapter, outlining each member and their respective responsibilities.
