Outcome
Summary

The Conclave on Medical Systems 2024 and the Department Association Inauguration Medico sapiens and BMESI was held at KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology at Raagam hall on August 10th, 2024 by 2.30pm. The event began with the traditional Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by a glimpse of the KPR Anthem. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was carried out by our Chairman, Principal, Head of the Department and by our the distinguished chief guests, marking the official commencement of the event.

Dr. D. Sudarvizhi, Medical Systems Lead, delivered the Welcome Address, setting an insightful tone for the day’s proceedings. The renowned doctors who have worked for the making of Medical systems were honoured by our visionary Chairman, Dr. K.P. Ramasamy. The distinguished guests who were honoured:

v  Dr. K. Eswaramoorthy, Chief Executive Officer of Masonic Hospital Coimbatore

v  Dr. Nandagopal Velayuthaswamy, Pulmonologist at the Tuberculosis & Respiratory Medicine Institute of Lung Care & Research, Hindusthan Hospital Coimbatore

v  Dr. S. Sunetha, Medical Director at Ranjan Medical Centre and Hospitals Coimbatore

v  Dr. R. Ramya, Consultant Neurologist at Aadhaar Multispecialty Medical Centre, Tiruppur

v  Dr. K.T. Manisenthilkumar, Chief Operating Officer of Royal Care Super Speciality Hospitals, Coimbatore

v  Dr. Ram Rammohan, Head of the Division of Laboratory Services at Aravind Eye Hospital, Coimbatore

 

Following this, Ms. B. Priya Darshini, Association Faculty Advisor, announced the new office bearers of the Medico Sapiens (student association), and BMESI (professional society) followed by the Felicitation Address was delivered by Dr. D. Saravanan, Principal of KPRIET. He spoke about the vision of our Chairman, Dr. K.P. Ramasamy, in transforming the educational focus from 'Science in Engineering' to 'Engineering in Science,' emphasizing the importance of this shift for student welfare and growth in the field of engineering.

 

The Presidential Address was given by Dr. K.P. Ramasamy was particularly impactful as he discussed the recent release of the biography “Guts”, written by our chief guest, Dr. C. Palanivelu, Chairman of GEM Hospitals. Dr. Ramasamy highlighted the remarkable journey of Dr. Palanivelu, his struggles, and his numerous achievements that his life story is a powerful source of inspiration for students.

 

The chief guest was introduced by Ms. Lakshitha S. Shankar, President of the BMESI-Students Chapter. Dr. C. Palanivelu then delivered an engaging and informative Chief Guest Address. He shared insights into the advancements in laparoscopy technology, the use of fluorescence in identifying cancer cells, and the ongoing research in chemotherapy. He also discussed the invention of the TROCAR and its benefits, emphasizing his continuous efforts to evolve with emerging medical technologies to enhance patient experience and safety. Furthermore, Dr. Palanivelu spoke about the production of cost-effective laparoscopic equipment, making advanced surgical procedures accessible even to rural populations. His address deeply motivated the budding biomedical engineers in the audience, encouraging us to contribute to innovative and effective inventions.

 

The event also featured the release of the Medical Systems Track by dignitaries such as Chairman, Chief guest, Principal and Head of the department, which outlined key areas of focus for biomedical engineers, particularly in research and innovation. This release served as a roadmap for students to explore and contribute to the future of medical systems. Ms. Nishanthini G, President of Medico Sapiens, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. The event concluded with the National Anthem, followed by a Technical Interaction session between doctors and students. During this session, students and professionals brainstormed new inventions in the field of biomedical engineering, discussed the importance of novelty in product development, and explored the curriculum project patterns. The doctors answered every student’s question in an extraordinary way, leaving the participants inspired and eager to innovate.
