The School Games Federation of India, Tamil Nadu State Karate Selection Trials for the academic year 2023-24, was successfully conducted by the School Education Department, Coimbatore. The event took place at the prestigious KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, at the KPR Kalaiarangam, over a span of two days, on 29th and 30th September 2023. The selection trials were held for different age categories including U-14, U-17, and U-19 for both boys and girls, witnessing a remarkable participation of over 3,700 students.
The event was held at the KPR Kalaiarangam, the cultural hub of KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore. The trials commenced on 29th September 2023 and concluded on 30th September 2023.
The selection trials witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 3,700 students representing various schools across Tamil Nadu. The participants competed in three different age categories: U-14, U-17, and U-19, with separate events for boys and girls. The diversity in participation showcased the widespread interest and talent prevalent in the state.
At the culmination of the selection trials, certificates of recognition were awarded to the selected players. Dr. K P Ramasamy, Chairman of KPR Group and Dr. M Ramasamy, the Principal of KPRIET along with the distinguished guests Mr. Raghu Kumar, District Sports Officer and Mr. Kumaresan, District Inspector of Physical Education. personally congratulated the winners and handed over the certificates. This gesture not only acknowledged the participants' achievements but also motivated them to strive for excellence in the field of karate.
Selected players in 33 different weight and age categories for both boys and girls will compete in the upcoming SGFI National level games to be held in Punjab & Delhi.
