CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, KPR Institute Engineering and Technology, Autonomous Engineering Institution, Coimbatore, India

To empower high school students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to make informed career choices and effectively plan their future paths, the program was organized.

The following Components were discussed in detail:

1. Self-Assessment: Begin with assessments that help students understand their strengths, interests, values, and personality traits. This could involve aptitude tests, personality quizzes, and reflective exercises to identify potential career matches.

2. Career Exploration: Introduce students to a wide array of career options across industries. Organize career fairs, guest speaker sessions, and virtual field trips to expose them to professionals from various fields, helping them gain insights into different roles.

3. Skill Development Workshops: Conduct workshops focusing on critical skills required in the modern job market, such as communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and digital literacy. Invite experts or professionals to share their experiences and insights.

4. Goal Setting and Planning: Teach students how to set realistic short-term and long-term career goals. Encourage them to break down these goals into actionable steps, fostering a sense of direction.

5. Educational Pathways: Provide information about various educational routes after high school, including college degrees, vocational training, apprenticeships, and online certifications. Discuss the pros and cons of each path and how they align with different careers.

Along with the aforementioned, Dr. Babu Rangarajan gave a detailed explanation on how to improve one's mental health for a successful life using the diverse strategies. Following the session, students had lovely remarks. They noted how the programme had significantly changed their careers.
