Summary

The session 'Learning to Learn' was organized by Department of Civil Engineering, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology having Dr. S. Jeyachandran, Senior Vice President, Marutham Group as resource person. He explained the students clearly about the importance of learning and deliberated how to learn, what to learn and why to learn to our students. He also emphasized on the importance of learning the basic etiquettes for making the career in a better standard in this modern world. Also he highlighted the insights of the different learning practices employed in the industries and requested the students to get updated with the same. As a student, how to cultivate interest towards anything which is of no interest to a student was discussed. Also importance of team building, cooperation, ethical values were explained to students. He insisted on 4 C's namely - Communication, Critical thinking, Collaboration and Creativity which everyone must understand before learning. Dr. S. Jeyachandran also talked about Learning to learn engages learners to build on prior learning and life experiences in order to use and apply knowledge and skills in a variety of contexts. Motivation and confidence are crucial to an individual's competence. If one has to succeed in life, then continuous learning along with motivation and self-confidence is very much essential. This event enhanced the knowledge of Civil Engineering students and will help to upgrade themselves as they enter the department to decide their career. Resource person also clarified the doubts raised by the students and interacted with them.
