As a part of KPRIET SDG Innovation Framework, The centre for Innovation, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology recently hosted a 48-hour hackathon named "Intel oneAPI Hackathon 2023" on April 29, 2023. The event was a massive success, with over 200 participants attending the Intel oneAPI Orientation Workshop on April 1, 2023. Out of those participants, around 40 teams submitted their abstracts by April 14, 2023. After conducting an abstract review, the organizing committee selected 25+ teams to participate in the hackathon's first - round project. On April 28, 2023, all 15 teams had their first round of the hackathon project with Mr. Akshay Ramakrishnan, and 15 teams were selected to participate in the Finale on April 29, 2023. Dr. Shriram Vasudevan, Intel Tech Evangelist, and Mr. Akshay Ramakrishnan, Intel Student Ambassador, evaluated all the projects presented at the Finale. Among the 15 projects, three teams bagged a pooled prize of $1000. Furthermore, two students, Mr. Ahamed Thaiyub (II Year - CSE) and Mr. R Pranesh (II Year - CSE) were recommended for Intel Student Ambassador for their outstanding performance. The Computer Science and Engineering department received the "Best Department Award for Active Participation" for their active involvement in the hackathon. The hackathon was a huge success, Dr.Akila Muthuramalingam, the Principal appreciated all the participants' enthusiasm and hard work. The event provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their technical skills and creativity. The organizers also thanked Dr. Shriram Vasudevan and Mr. Akshay Ramakrishnan for their support and guidance throughout the hackathon.
