BIM CONCLAVE , KPR Institute Engineering and Technology, Autonomous Engineering Institution, Coimbatore, India

Department of Civil Engineering organized a Two day Building Information Modeling (BIM) conclave which was held on 16th and 17th March 2023 at Thanam hall, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore. This conclave is aimed at bringing together the leading experts and professionals from leading industry to discuss the latest trends and advancements in BIM.
The conclave featured keynote speakers Dr. V. Senthilkumar, Expert in World Skills Competition for Digital Construction and Associate Professor, IIT Palakad and Er. B. S. Mukund, Head - Building Information Modeling, L&T Construction, Chennai. Resource persons provided hands on training to all the participants which included BIM implementation, Project Management and the role of technology in construction.
Day 1 Session-1 was handled by Dr. V Senthilkumar where he emphasized about the tools to be explored by students in BIM. Also, he highlighted the importance of World Skills in Digital Construction Skill. Students got motivated to participate in World Skills in Digital Construction.
Day 1 Session 2 was handled by Er. Mukund B S, Head - BIM from L&T Constructions Chennai. He touched on the usage of BIM in L&T Constructions and skillset required to get to know as students to enter as BIM Engineer in top companies. Also he discussed on the transition of industries adopting BIM to ensure efficiency and sustainability.
Day 2 - Hands on Training was given to the participants in NMS lab at KPRIET. Mr. Ram and Mrs. Kavitha handled the session and deliberated the modelling tools used in Revit Architecture. Participants interacted and got their doubts clarified. Also an introduction to software Autodesk Naviswork freedom was given by Mr. Yuvaraj, Center Manager - Experience Engineering at the EE Centre.
Participants felt extremely happy about the organizing of the event.
