Summary

KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (KPRIET), Coimbatore, organised a two-day national-level seminar on “Climate Action and Green Diplomacy: India’s Leadership in Sustainable Development & Global Partnerships,” sponsored by the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA). The event was conducted by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of KPRIET.

Ms. Avni Sablok, Research Associate, ICWA, delivered the keynote address and highlighted the Council’s role in advancing India’s global engagement and promoting

informed discourse on international relations. She explained how ICWA functions as a premier think tank dedicated to studying world affairs and foreign policy while fostering India’s relations with other nations through research and dialogue.

The seminar featured expert sessions from environmental and policy specialists. “Climate change is reshaping ecosystems in ways we are only beginning to understand,” said Mr. K. Kalidasan, Environmentalist and former member of the Tamil Nadu State Board for Wildlife.

Mr. Elangovan K, Former Chief Engineer, PWD and Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, stated, “India’s Sustainable Development Goals can be achieved more effectively by integrating traditional knowledge with modern technology.” Mr. G. Sundararajan, Member of TNCMM, explained the structure of the national climate

policy and its implementation through the Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission.

Dr. Ibrahim Bathusha, Professor, Civil Engineering, PSG College of Technology, said, “India’s climate leadership must reflect in sustainable urban models and circular

approaches to wastewater management.” The two-day seminar provided a platform for students and faculty to understand India’s approach to global climate commitments and sustainable growth through expert perspectives and institutional engagement.
