The IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society of KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology successfully organized GeoConnect 2025, a two-day technical event aimed at fostering knowledge sharing and professional development in the fields of geoscience, sustainability, and remote sensing technologies.
Day 1: Guest Lectures and Paper Presentation
Held on 9th May 2025, the first day of GeoConnect 2025 began with two informative guest lectures that set the tone for the event's focus on geoscience and environmental technologies.
Dr. G Anusha, Professor and Head of Civil Engineering at KPRIET, discussed Climate Risk, explaining the impact of climate change on infrastructure and ways to manage risks.
Mr. V Kavinkumar, Indian Green Building Council Member and Assistant Professor at KPRIET, highlighted Green Buildings for Urban Development, focusing on sustainable construction and energy efficiency.
After these engaging sessions, the Paper Presentation began, with students from various departments showcasing their research on geoscience and environmental technologies. Judges praised the depth of knowledge and innovative ideas presented, making the session a great learning experience.
Day 2: Guest Lectures
The second day, 10th May 2025, featured insightful guest lectures by eminent professionals from diverse industry backgrounds:
Ms. A. Rakshna, Manager - ESG, CBRE South Asia, Bangalore, shared valuable insights on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in real estate and infrastructure development.
Ms. Nandhitha Kalyanasundaram, Associate Software Engineer, Bosch Global Software Technologies & IEEE MAS YP representative, emphasized the integration of software solutions in geoscience and the importance of youth involvement in IEEE initiatives.
Mr. S. Arjunkumar, Deputy Manager - Environment and Sustainability, Cholamandalam MS, Chennai, discussed sustainable practices in industrial operations and the critical role of environmental management in corporate responsibility.
The sessions were interactive and informative, encouraging student engagement and professional networking. GeoConnect 2025 was a grand success, fulfilling its objective of connecting students with industry experts and enhancing awareness on current trends in geoscience and sustainability.
