The Short-Term Training Program on Python for Civil Engineers, organized by the Department of Civil Engineering at KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (KPRIET) in association with the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) Coimbatore Chapter and KPR International Centre (KIC), introduced first-year Civil Engineering students to the fundamentals of Python programming and its applications in civil engineering.
Led by Prof. Dr. Fan Su-Ling from Tamkang University, Taiwan, the training sessions were conducted from March 11–13, 2025, with an additional session on March 21, 2025. The program partially covered topics from the syllabus, focusing on key Python concepts relevant to civil engineering.
By the end of the program, students were able to:
Understand Python fundamentals, including variables, loops, and functions.
Perform basic computations and data handling.
Apply Python to simple engineering calculations and problem-solving.
Gain insights into further applications of Python in structural analysis and design.
The training served as a valuable introduction to Python, enabling students to build a foundation for integrating computational tools into civil engineering practices.
