Summary

This report summarizes the 5-day International Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Role of Artificial Intelligence in Sustainable Energy," held from February 17 to February 21, 2025. The FDP was organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, India.

The program aimed to enhance faculty skills by providing a solid foundation in AI concepts relevant to sustainable energy and explaining the core principles and challenges of renewable energy sources. The FDP attracted 100 participants from 22 institutions across India and abroad.

Esteemed resource persons from leading international universities contributed to the program, including:

  • Dr. Hui Kai Su, Professor, National Formosa University, Taiwan

  • Dr. Daniel Einarson, Professor, Kristianstad University, Sweden

  • Dr. Lau Chee Yong, Professor, Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation, Malaysia

  • Dr. Nicolas Gascoin, Professor, National Institute of Applied Sciences of Lyon, France

  • Dr. M. Sridhar, Professor, University of Michigan, Dearborn, USA

Overall, the program was well-received, with participants providing positive feedback on the content and delivery. Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of AI principles and their practical applications in sustainable energy systems, and improved their skills in integrating AI-driven solutions into renewable energy research and teaching.

Furthermore, participants were encouraged to develop collaborative research initiatives and publications in AI-driven sustainable energy. The program also facilitated the exploration of new research avenues and potential solutions to global energy challenges.
