Report:

The Industry expert lecture on Solar Powerplant design and management organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering was held on 19th September 2024. The event started at 1.30 p.m. with the Welcome address given by Mr. N. Udhayakumar addressing our guest Dr. Matheswaran Alagu, the technical lead of RAALTECH Solutions and Head Technical of O&M-Mas Solar System Pvt. Ltd followed by the speech by our guest. After the welcome speech, the podium was handed to our guest. Then he started the lecture with an introduction to Solar PV panels and their working mechanism. The students were given interactive manuals to work on Solar panel connections, single-line diagrams (SLD), and panel specifications. After the first session, refreshments were arranged for the guest during the short break. In the second session, the lecture was about Electrical parameters at standard test conditions (STC) and at NOCT, Temperature coefficient characteristics, operating conditions and the selection of panels based on these Data tables followed by a Q&A session to clarify the doubts of students participated in the event. Finally, Mr. C. Sutarshan of 2nd year Mechanical delivered the vote of thanks and concluded the event.
