Summary
The programme was organized by Department of Civil Engineering in association with Marutham Group, Chennai having Dr. S. Jeyachandran, Senior Vice President, Marutham Group as resource person. He explained clearly about the concept of cognitive teaching and its importance as an academician. He informed that Cognitive learning theory, focuses on the internal processes surrounding information and memory and is one of the most adaptable of the five major learning theories. Cognitive learning has applications for teaching students as young as infants, all the way up to adult learners picking up new skills on the job. He also briefed on the process of how we learn through our 5 senses. He also enlightened his thoughts about the new National Educational Policy among the faculty members with its importance. He insisted that all faculty members must be capable of solving multidisciplinary problems by applying the engineering knowledge. Also practical exposures through visits and trainings is needed to enrich the knowledge and be updated. He shared his views on also about Gig Economy, Cognitive Science, SWOT analysis during the session.
This event enriched the knowledge of Faculty members to upgrade themselves. Resource person also clarified the doubts raised by the faculty members and interacted with them. Totally 15 faculty members from the Department of Civil Engineering attended the session and were benefitted from the programme.
