The Civil Engineering Student Association, in collaboration with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), organized an expert talk titled "Competencies of Quantity Surveying" on 9th August 2024. The event was held at Veena Hall and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.
The resource person for the event was Er. Sathisraja Muthusamy, a renowned Quantity Surveyor specializing in Contracts, Commercial, and Procurement at MAG Property Development LLC, Dubai. With vast experience in the field, Er. Sathisraja shared his insights into the essential competencies required for successful quantity surveying, emphasizing the significance of accuracy, technical expertise, and efficient contract management.
The session covered various aspects of the quantity surveying profession, including roles in construction project management, procurement processes, budgeting, and tendering procedures. Er. Sathisraja also highlighted the evolving trends in the industry, especially the growing importance of technology and digital tools in enhancing precision and efficiency in cost estimation and contract execution.
