The Department of Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS) recently organized a two-day Value-Added Course on 'Foundations of Stock Market Analysis.' The course took place on November 24th and 25th, 2023, in the II year CSBS classroom. The event aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the basics of investing, stock market analysis, and mutual funds. We were honored to have Mr. M. Sethu Shankar, the Managing Partner of Risk Free Investment Services in Erode and an Authorized Advisor for Motilal Oswal, as the esteemed chief guest for the occasion.
The first day of the course was dedicated to laying the groundwork for understanding investing and the stock market. Participants had the opportunity to delve into the fundamentals of investing, gaining insights into key concepts such as market dynamics, risk assessment, and the various investment vehicles available. The sessions on the basics of stock market analysis provided a solid foundation for the participants, equipping them with the essential knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of financial markets.
On the second day, the focus shifted towards mutual funds—a popular and widely-used investment vehicle. Mr. M. Sethu Shankar, with his expertise in the field, shared valuable insights into the world of mutual funds. The sessions covered topics such as the types of mutual funds, risk management strategies, and the process of selecting the right mutual funds based on individual financial goals and risk tolerance. The day was designed to be interactive, allowing participants to ask questions and engage in discussions to deepen their understanding of mutual fund investments.
