Center was organized an awareness session “First Aid and Emergency Handling Techniques'
for the Faculty and Staff members of our college on 28.10.2023 from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm at
Sangam Hall. Team of members from “ALERT” organization (a volunteer driven NGO),
Coimbatore deliberated awareness session along with demonstration. We have also signed
MoU with the same organization. The primary goal of the seminar was to equip participants with essential first aid skills and emergency handling techniques. ALERT team members were demonstrated the following first aid techniques.
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation): Participants learned how to perform CPR effectively, including chest compressions and rescue breaths. They gained the knowledge and confidence to respond to cardiac arrest situations.
Wound Care and Bandaging Techniques: Participants acquired the skills to clean and dress wounds, control bleeding, and apply bandages properly.
Choking and Heimlich Maneuver: The workshop provided participants with the ability to identify choking incidents and perform the Heimlich maneuver to clear obstructions.
Fracture and Splinting Techniques: Attendees learned how to recognize fractures and safely immobilize injured limbs using splinting techniques.
Handling Burns and Scalds: Participants gained insights into the appropriate first aid measures for burns and scalds, including cooling the affected area and applying dressings.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Calling 911: The workshop emphasized the importance of quickly accessing professional medical assistance by calling 911 and understanding the role of emergency medical services.
Practical Application: The hands-on training and role-play exercises enabled participants to practice the skills they learned in a controlled setting, boosting their confidence in real-life emergency situations.
