An orientation program for the students regarding Smart India Hackathon 2023 was organized on 14.09.2023. Dr.K.Ravikumar - Head (Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship development) and Dr.Ravi Kumar (SPOC – KPRIET) addressed the students on the various aspects of Smart India Hackathon.The main goal of a Smart India Hackathon is to provide students with a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our day-to-day lives. The first four editions of SIH have proven to be extremely successful in promoting innovative out-of-the-box thinking in young minds especially engineering students from across India. SIH is organized once a year for students to come up with solutions to problems posed by ministries, public sector units, Nongovernmental organizations, and industries. Discussed about TEAM FORMATION 1) All team members should be from same college; no inter-college teams are allowed. However, members from different branches of the same college/ institute are encouraged to form a team. 2) Each team would mandatorily comprise of 6 members including the team leader. 3) Each team must have AT LEAST ONE FEMALE TEAM MEMBER. Guidelines and Process flow for SIH Sr. 4) As the software edition of the hackathon is digital product development competition, majority of the team members MUST be well versed with programming skills. For the hardware edition, we encourage multi-disciplinary teams – which means your team should have a good mix of Mechanical Engineers, Electronic Engineers, Product Designers and Programmers, etc. 5) The nominated teams should have participated in the recommended Internal hackathon.The hackathons 2023 edition will have statements linked to a range of themes the themes including- Agriculture, food and rural development, Blockchain and cybersecurity, Clean and Green Technology, Fitness, and Sports, Heritage, Culture, MedTech/ BioTech/HealthTech, Miscellaneous, Renewable/ Sustainable Energy, Robotics and Drones, Smart Automation, Smart Vehicles, Travel and Tourism, Transportation and Logistics, Disaster Management, Smart Education. The process involves the submission of problem statements by central and state ministries, departments, PSUs, industries, and NGOs; the review of submitted problem statements and finalization by concerned committees and the publishing of finalized problem statements.
