The orientation on GATE and government job opportunities for engineering students was organized by the Career Advancement Cell on 22nd July 2023 at the CAC Hall. The event aimed to provide valuable insights into the GATE exam and its relevance in securing government jobs and admissions in prestigious institutes for engineering graduates. The resource person, Mr. Sathyamoorthy, an esteemed GATE educator from Unacademy and the founder of Masters Academy, shared his expertise and preparation strategies to crack competitive exams.
Dr. Saranya R, the Head of the Career Advancement Cell, delivered the welcome address, extending a warm welcome to all the students and highlighting the importance of the orientation session for their career growth. Mr. Sathyamoorthy began the session by emphasizing the significance of GATE preparation for engineering students. He discussed the various opportunities that GATE opens up, including securing core placements, admissions in IITs, NITs, and other premier institutes, and landing lucrative government jobs.
The resource person provided valuable insights on the preparation strategies for GATE and other competitive exams. He emphasized the importance of consistent practice, time management, and understanding the exam pattern and syllabus. Mr. Sathyamoorthy also shared success stories and real-life examples to motivate the students. The session was not just limited to GATE; insights were also provided on preparation strategies for banking exams and central & state-level competitive exams. This broader perspective allowed the students to explore a range of career options. The students remained highly engaged and interactive throughout the event. They actively participated in the discussion, asking numerous questions regarding preparation strategies, exam patterns, syllabus, and more. Mr. Sathyamoorthy patiently addressed each query, providing clarifications and valuable tips. Ms. Vinumithra from the IIIrd year Civil Engineering Department concluded the event with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Mr. Sathyamoorthy for his invaluable guidance and motivation.Pre and post-event questionnaires were administered to gauge the students' requirements and the effectiveness of the orientation session. The pre-event questionnaire provided useful insights into the students' awareness levels and expectations. The post-event questionnaire aimed to assess their level of understanding and learning from the session.
