Summary

In this Faculty Development Program, we the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science faculty had gained a basic idea of Mathematics behind our Data Science domain. In this foundation program, the guest had shared with us how to approach the problem statement. He discusses the following topic:

  1. Components of Data Scientists

  2. Basic Terminologies used

  3. Best definition and examples for AI, Data Analytics, Data Science

  4. Skills needed for Data Scientists

  5. Relationship between AI,ML,DL and DS

  6. Discussion about functions in ML

  7. Basic characteristics of functions - Domain, Range, Parameter, Inverse, etc

  8. Definition of family of functions

  9. Model selection - common models

  10. Visualization and its importance

  11. ML pipeline

  12. Problem solving techniques - procedural, Model driven

  13. Data Distribution

    and many more topics.

The sessions gives all of the participants a great idea about the approach towards Data Science. In AI domain, how we are deriving the decisions on the given problem statement from the data taken from the raw data set. We are planning to arrange a series 2 on the same FDP session in the next semester break, which gives us a good confidence on the same.
