This guest lecture was organized by the EEE department for Second year EEE students for providing industrial perspective about PID controllers and its design. The event was conducted to enhance their understanding about Need for Controllers in various domains,Types of Controllers, Controller Design and challenges in designing a controller for Real time applications. Software tools for designing controllers. Challenges in hardware implementation. The career opportunities in Control Engineering in India and Aboard. Student Participants strength is 130. Faculty participants strength is 10.Students interacted with resource person about Higher studies and scope for research. Control Systems and its design is an indispensable part of any engineering system and is common to different disciplines of engineering like Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Chemical Engineering etc. The participants understood about the basics of Automatic Control Systems and its applications using MATLAB/SIMULINK.Control Design: Performance specifications, steady state, transient, frequency domain, stability margins, sensitivity and complementary sensitivity; Controller Design Methods: PID control tuning, Model matching, Loop shaping: Lead/Lag compensation; Choice of control structure and design algorithm: 1 and 2 dof structures, Internal Model Control, Cascade and Feedforward, Smith Predictor. System Analysis: Concept of stability, equilibrium points, types of stability (local/global, asymptotic/uniform/exponential) with examples.
The resource person also discussed the following topics,
Fundamentals of Control Systems Engineering with MATLAB/SIMULINK (Time domain analysis, Frequency domain analysis, Root locus, Compensator design etc.)
Launch Vehicle Control Systems
