A two day FDP of Applied Mathematical Modelling was conducted in the Department of Mathematics, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology on 15 & 16 February 2024. Dr. K. Karthikeyan, Professor and Head welcomed the participants with short introduction of mathematical modelling. The first session of Day 1 was handled by Prof. Balachandran Manavalan, Department of Integrative Biotechnology, Sungkyunwan University, Seoul, South Korea. He explained the basic concepts of artificial intelligence and some AI tools used in virus research. At the end of his talk partcipants have asked their doubts and the speaker explains in more clear way. Prof. C.R. Gopikrishnan, Department of Mathematics, IIT Palakad was taken the second session. He explained all the key concepts in the finite element method and some applications of FEM in fluid flow problems. At the end of second session participants raised their queries and got them cleared.
Day 2 of the FDP starts with session by Prof. G.P. Raja Sekhar, Department of Mathematics, IIT Kharagpur. He elaborately explains the concepts of mathematical modelling in population growth models in the context of biological tumors with case studies. At the end of his talk, the participants have raised some queries and the speaker have explained in a clear way. The next session was taken by Prof. G.D. Veerappa Gowda, TIFR CAM, Bangalore. Applications of partial differential equations was taken by him and it was informative session. Then the general discussion about how to produce the quality publications in applied Mathematics. Both the resource persons have shared their thoughts and their inputs was informative. Finally, the FDP on Applied Mathematical Modelling was come to an end.
