In honor of Srinivasa Ramanujan's Birth Anniversary, the Department of Mathematics is hosting the 'National Mathematics Week' from December 18th to 23rd, 2023, with the inaugural event taking place at Thanam Hall on the 18th December 2023. The session featured an expert lecture on the t 'Life, Work, and Legacy of Srinivasa Ramanujan.' The program commenced with the rendition of Tamil Thai Valthu, followed by the KPR anthem. Professor Dr. K. Karthikeyan, the Head of the Mathematics Department, introduced the distinguished speaker, Dr. R. Ramesh, a Professor from the Department of Mathematics at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore.
Dr. Ramesh began the session by delving into Ramanujan's life history, eloquently discussing his groundbreaking innovations. He emphasized Ramanujan's resilience in the face of challenges, showcasing how he excelled in mathematics even during difficult times. Dr. Ramesh also touched upon the recognition Ramanujan received from mathematicians in other countries. Students gained valuable insights into Ramanujan's life and his significant contributions to the field of mathematics. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. P. Suriyakumar, the Faculty coordinator, and ended with the rendition of the National Anthem.
