Series 3 – Enhancing
Listening and Speaking Skill through Technology
The Department of English, KPRIET
organized a Student Development Program on “Reinforcing Language Competency”,
Series 1 – Explore Better Version of Yourself on 4th April 2022 in
association with ELT@I, Coimbatore Chapter and ISTE. It is exclusively for slow
learners of first year in order to make them come out of their shell. Dr. M.
Hema, Dr. Sathya T. and Ms. K. Sharmila acted as the convenor, the organizer
and co-ordinator respectively. Dr. S. Latha Venkateswari, Professor of English,
Government College of Technology, Coimbatore acted as the resource person.
Around 85 students participated in the SDP. She explicated how to overcome the
barriers while speaking in English especially mother tongue influence. She also
described the how to practice to improve the active listening skill. She gave a
clear insights on apps for enhancing listening skill and speaking skill.
Students were given training on effective communication, recalling information,
presenting information and how to connect with the real world through self-expression.
The doubts of the students were efficiently clarified during and at the end of
the session by the resource person. Through the feedback session, it was clearly
identified that the students enjoyed the session and found it useful and
informative.
