Overall, the session was successful in equipping faculty members with the knowledge and tools necessary to advocate for and implement autonomy in their respective academic environments, thereby contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of educational standards.


The Faculty Development program titled 'Autonomy and Its Benefits' was held on June 8, 2024. The session was led by Dr. Sounak Choudhury, a retired professor from the Mechanical Engineering Department at IIT Kanpur and a member of the NBA Expert Committee. The event saw the active participation of 31 faculty members.

Participants gained a deeper understanding of the concept of autonomy in educational institutions and its significance in fostering academic freedom, innovation, and improved educational outcomes.

Dr. Choudhury shared valuable insights and practical examples from his extensive experience, illustrating how autonomy can be effectively implemented in various academic settings.

The session was highly interactive, allowing faculty members to engage in meaningful discussions, ask questions, and share their perspectives on autonomy.

Faculty members were provided with strategic approaches and best practices for implementing autonomy within their own departments and institutions, aimed at enhancing overall academic performance and governance.

The event facilitated a platform for collaborative learning, enabling faculty members to network, share ideas, and build professional relationships that could support future initiatives related to autonomy in education.
